Training as a Medical-Technical Laboratory Assistant

You have a strong interest in natural sciences, dexterity, and have always wanted a chemistry set as a child? Do you find blood, tissue, or other fluid samples fascinating? And did you always look forward to biology and chemistry classes in school? Then a career as a Medical-Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTLA) could be the perfect fit for you.

Your important contribution to medicine

Without you and your reports, medicine would be at a loss, as you provide important laboratory analyses for the diagnosis of diseases. Wearing protective gear and gloves is essential during your work, as well as the daily routine of sterilizing equipment and instruments. If you choose to train as a Medical-Technical Laboratory Assistant, you will undergo a 3-year training program.

  • Performing laboratory tests on tissue and body fluids such as blood, urine, and gastric juice
  • Collecting samples
  • Cultivating tissue or pathogens
  • Centrifuging liquids
  • Checking samples for their composition and possible pathogens, and recognizing deviations from normal
