Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Cybersecurity Engineer safeguards our digital assets against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. This role is crucial in creating and maintaining our security infrastructure, responding to cyber threats, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university data.

Essential Job Functions:

· Design, implement, and manage security measures and controls.

· Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats.

· Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

· Develop and implement security awareness training programs.

· Work closely with IT staff on technology projects and initiatives.

· Stay informed about the latest security technologies and cyber threats.

· Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May lead incident response teams during cybersecurity incidents.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity role.

Certificates, Licenses or Registrations

CISSP, CISM, CISA, or SANS/GIAC certifications preferred.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
