- Development implementation, review and revision of all behavior support plans and monitoring plans in accordance with agency policies and/or state regulations, as indicated by team decisions and/or individual need
- Provide hands on assistance, instruction, training and supervision of staff in the implementation of behavior management plans
- Provide on-site direction and training to staff in managing difficult behaviors, assists with crisis intervention which includes but is not limited to assisting in an emergency and accompanying someone to the crisis center if warranted
- Responsible for presenting aversive behavior plans and requests for psychotropic medication approvals to the Human Rights Committee. This includes obtaining the necessary approvals from the person, their advocate and/or legal guardian and the Informed Consent Committee when appropriate
- Accompany a person to their psychiatric appointment with a family member or advocate as indicated by need and/or request from your supervisor
- Attend Program Planning Team meetings as indicated by behavioral need or as requested by the individual's team
- Complete assessments and graphs regarding progress or regression on behavior support plans to Program Planning Team meetings
- Complete case notes on behavior management plans or protocols, complete semi-annual and annual progress notes
- Responsible (in consultation with the PH.D. Psychologist) for making professional judgments on treatment required for person(s) with serious situational short-term, or chronic long-term maladaptive behavior(s)
- Provide parents, advocates and/or guardians with training and support to enhance their skills when a person is having behavior difficulties
- Provide training and assist individuals to develop, maintain and/or improve desired individual goals, living skills and personal needs as assigned or required
- Provide supervision to individuals during program hours and during community outings as to ensure their health and safety
- Possess strong interpersonal, written, oral, and communication abilities and effective time management/organizational skills
- Able to work scheduled hours that may include mandatory overtime, weekend and/or holiday timeframes. Also maintain an acceptable work attendance as defined in the agency's personnel policy manual and handbook.
- Be computer literate with knowledge in agency operating systems and applicable software required for department needs.
- Be able to generate and present comprehensive written reports and respond to questions about the report.
- Demonstrate sound judgment in normal work and emergency situations
- Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift fifty (50) pounds
- Possess a valid driver's license with a record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier
- A minimum of a Master's Degree from a program in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology or applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical interventions with a minimum of five years working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the devising, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans.- OR -National board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA); and have a Master's degree in behavior analysis, or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology which is approved by OPWDD.- OR -A combination of education and experience that further meets the OPWDD regulations for this position.
