Description
This position is a part-time hours/week), hourly, year-round staff position. This position reports to the Director of Finance & Operations.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform basic accounts payable & receivable functions including weekly preparation of checks for payments, entry of electronic payments into QuickBooks, before & after care billing, and other extracurricular activity fees.
  • Manage fax, print, copier and postage-meter services and contracts.
  • Perform basic human resources functions including managing records for certifications and other state requirements.
  • Collect, maintain and report benchmarking data (DASL) to AIMS on an annual basis.
  • Deal with sensitive personal and business information in an environment that demands absolute and complete confidentiality.
  • Assist Director of Finance & Operations or other members of school administration with a variety of complex projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance & Operations.

General Requirements:

The Finance Assistant should demonstrate proven abilities to multi-task, see complex projects through to completion, and a willingness, if necessary, to undertake the most basic tasks to be of service to the school, its employees and students.

The Finance Assistant must be able to work collaboratively and harmoniously with peers in an educational or nonprofit setting; to be flexible in adapting to growth and change; to be constantly and independently pursuing improvements in business efficiencies and must maintain a positive attitude and sense of humor.

The Finance Assistant must be able to effectively represent the interests of the school to outside vendors and constituents in an assertive but professional manner.

Potential for additional responsibilities and hours depending on performance and the needs of the school.


Specific Knowledge and Skills:


  • Ability to use QuickBooks Desktop easily and efficiently required.
  • Attention to detail and careful proofing of own work and that of others.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be resourceful in problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and see tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to work with no administrative assistant support.
  • Ability use Excel to organize and manage complex datasets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a variety of settings and with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to write and present information in a clear, professional and concise manner.

Applicant Requirements. Bachelor's degree or more than 5 years experience in business operations or management, preferably in a school environment, required. Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, to work independently without administrative support, excellent communications skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills required.


Compensation. Competitive hourly wage depending on experience.
