Job Summary and Qualifications:

Assists with patient care activities and performs maintenance functions of the department. The primary function is to perform designated routine tasks related to the operation of the physical therapy service, assist with patient related activities that are predetermined for each patient and are assigned by a registered physical therapist.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:


1. Functions as an aide to the PT, PTA, OT, and Wound Care Nurse when assisting in modified sterile procedures under the direct supervision of the licensed professional.

2. Correctly set up of modified sterile field as assigned
**3. Conducts assigned department duties to the standard implied in policies and satisfactorily possess on site inspection by supervisor.

4. Follows guidelines from therapist/wound care nurses for stocking wound care cart

5. Assembles, cleans, and inventories departmental equipment

6. Immediately informs the nurse of the patient or other appropriate staff member of any complaints or change in physical status that may be observed

7. Assists with therapeutic activity programs of clients in accordance with specific directions and under constant supervision of licensed therapists.

8. Accurately inventories patient assigned VACs and Rental Bed as assigned

9. Consistently performs correct transfers for each client type under direct supervision of licensed therapist.

10. Demonstrates competency in departmental phone and message recording etiquette

11. Orders and maintain adequate par level for departmental supplies

12. Assists in coordinating and scheduling departmental activities

13. Assists in the supervision and training of the Rehab Techs as assigned.

14. Willingly accepts work assignments in a flexible and positive manner.

15. Performs other related functions as assigned.

PATIENT/FAMILY EDUCATION:

Provides patient/family education as per department and hospital policy and procedure.

1. Assists with patient/family/significant other's learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn. Identifies barriers to learning, such as language or culture. Communicates this information to supervising licensed therapist or wound care nurse on duty or appropriate personnel.

2. Provides teaching material as needed (pamphlets, etc.) to enhance patient learning under supervision of licensed professional

1. Has completed the Growth & Development and Age Specific Competency and Aging Awareness self-learning modules and applies concepts to patient care.
