FLIPANY is proud to service the South Florida Community (Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach County).

Our innovative programs fight childhood obesity and hunger by focusing on healthy food preparation, food security, physical education, and access to food.


Position Overview:


The Public Assistance Department executes FLIPANY's food access model, where we provide eligible afterschool programs and summer camps with delicious, nutritious meals at their community location.

FLIPANY is an approved meal sponsor for the Afterschool Meal Program (AMP) and the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), a program federally funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).


The Community Meal Assurance AmeriCorps Member will directly connect with the community, serving in collaboration with the Procurement and Quality Assurance Manager.

Their duties will include conducting on-site surveys to assess the quality of meals and reviewing procedures to enhance service standards.

This AmeriCorps position arose from observations during the 2023 summer program, recognizing the value of ensuring high-quality food reaches the community.

The member will work alongside site staff and children throughout the tri-county area, assisting with monthly menu updates, implementing food quality assurance measures, and collecting and entering survey data.

Additionally, they will play a vital role in confirming the satisfaction of recipients through site satisfaction surveys and visual documentation of meals served.


This position requires a highly flexible and motivated person with the ability to work with diverse populations, adhere to realistic timelines, and successfully handle multiple projects and deadlines.

Position requires a detail-oriented, self-starter capable of working independently, and as part of a team, in a fast
- paced, diverse environments.

Benefits (Paid by Equal Hearts):


  • Living Allowance of $3,000.00; paid out biweekly ($600.00)
  • Education Award of $1,565.08; earned at the end of term

The Community Meal Assurance AmeriCorps Member's Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and go to meal sites where snacks and/or meals are delivered and served
  • Develop and maintain a database of meal photos used for evaluation of visual appeal, quality and meal portioning
  • Conduct satisfaction assessments and compile results
  • Prepare program spreadsheets, documents and menus as per the direction of the Procurement and Quality Assurance
  • Provide feedback to the Procurement and Quality Assurance Manager regarding improvements that can be made based on findings
  • Ability to understand meal pattern requirements, review menus and meals for compliance
  • Meet monthly department goals
  • Work cooperatively and maintain a positive rapport with FLIPANY staff, board members and volunteers
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Comfortable driving long distances and for extended time points
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong administrative and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with lowincome, disadvantaged populations
  • Ability to accept feedback and make changes accordingly
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to work under pressure, be flexible, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

Qualifications:


  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • A high school Degree with some post secondary work in social work, child development, food and beverage, quality assurance nutrition
  • Administrative and customer service experience
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Must be detailedoriented
  • Proven track record of the above "key attributes"
