Summary:
Summer Research internships are offered for high school graduates and/or college students to engage in research projects with Rush faculty in basic science, clinical research, and community service arenas.
Students accepted in the program are provided a paid position to work part time during the summer before the first year of college.
The individual who holds this position exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Performs biomedical research under the supervision of a designated manager and a specific research project.
- Maintains sterile techniques for tissue culture.
- Performs flow cytometry, imaging, and/or immunofluorescence microscopy, and/or PCR, and posttraining.
- Maintains a thorough lab notebook of all experiments performed.
- Summarizes the data and present to group.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Other information:
- High school graduate required. College students in good academic standing will also be considered.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate in a professional manner.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, set goals, and manage complicated tasks.
- Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with confidential information.
