- High school diploma/GED, certificate in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent work experience
- Heat-treat parts using acetylene torches
- Lift or move materials and finished products using large overhead cranes
- Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces in order to cut, bend, and straighten metal
- Lay out and examine metal stock or workpieces to be processed in order to ensure that specifications are met
- Locate and mark workpieces' bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications
- Mark reference points on floors or face blocks and transpose them to workpieces using measuring devices, squares, chalk, and soapstone
- Move parts into position manually or by using hoists or cranes
- Position, align, and fit parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
- Operate equipment using safe workplace habits
- Examine workpieces for defects
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Document actions by completing production timesheets
- Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Other duties as assigned
- Previous experience as a fitter and/or fabricator (experience with fitting Invar or steel layup molds for composites fabrication is a major plus)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certificate in welding technology or equivalent work experience
- Ability to pass a drug test, with little or no notice, in compliance with the law
- Ability to pass a background check in compliance with the law
- To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government
- Multi-limb coordination: the ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Work with the Fabrication Manager and other coworkers to ensure that all jobs are welded to their specifications and meet the outlined requirements.
