Summary
The Education Coordinator promotes school readiness by providing technical assistance, mentoring, and training to the staff and partner sites. He/she will promote children's development in all domains to support school readiness goals. This person will monitor all education requirements.
Ambassadorship/Recruitment
- Be informed and committed to CNE's mission, vision, values and programs and serve as an ambassador in CNE's service areas
- Identify community organizations/businesses for outreach opportunities
- Conduct ongoing community outreach to identify eligible clients and recruit families
- Attend and participate in outreach events to identify eligible clients and recruit families (evenings and weekends may be required)
Education Services Coordination and Support
- Establish and maintain professional and trusting relationships with CNE and partner site staff
- Provide support, training and technical assistance to CNE and partner site staff regarding the planning and implementation of culturallyresponsive, developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences
- Participate in monthly multidisciplinary meetings
- Update and implement policies and procedures relating to Education
- Ensure lesson plans are complete and are aligned with the Early Learning Outcomes Framework and the Illinois Early Learning Standards for all program options (Home Visiting & Center-Based)
- Ensure lesson plans are individualized for children that need extra support
- Review ASQ3 and ASQ-SE2s for all children and collaborate and communicate with the Disabilities Coordinator regarding children that need referrals
- Establish a monthly schedule of onsite centerbased visits to do focused observations and train and consult with teachers
- Establish a quarterly schedule (or more often as needed) to consult with each Home Visitor
- Ensure active collaboration with other content area staff such as Disabilities, Family Services, Health and ERSEA
- Provide training to education staff based on identified needs
- Provide parent workshops and training activities within the framework of education and school readiness goals
Leadership
- Responsible for ensuring that compliance with all applicable performance standards, federal, state and local regulations are adhered to
- Lead efforts, create and support the implementation of the school readiness goals in collaboration with CNE staff, partner sites and parents
- Participate in the creation and support the implementation of the agency's program goals and objectives
- Provide program information and data for funder reports to the Director of Programs/Head Start
- Provide mentorship and support around observations, inclusive practices, curriculum, screening and assessment tools, and school readiness goals for Parent Educators & Center-Based staff.
- Remain updated and knowledgeable about Practice Based Coaching and monitor coaching activities as part of the coaching leadership team.
- Provide feedback/data and participate in Self-Assessment and Community Assessment processes.
- Participate in community meetings as needed.
Data and Ongoing Monitoring
- Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for Staff, Board of Directors, and Policy Council as requested
- Develop and/or maintain a monitoring system to ensure education requirements are adhered to for all program options
- Monitor Education data in the ChildPlus database system, including running regular reports
- Ensure that all program options are adhering to the assessment and documentation requirement in Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) per policies and procedures
- Monitor curriculum activities in consultation with other program and teaching staff
- Monitor and prepare reports for child outcomes data in TSG for all program options
- Plan, organize and lead regular child outcomes data meetings with CNE staff and partner site staff
- Review & monitor all participant files at partner sites in collaboration with the Director of Programs/ Head Start
Professional Development/Meetings
- Attend and participate in regular allstaff meetings, staff training events, reflective supervisions, and adhere to policies, procedures and professional core values/code of ethics
- Complete and participate in performance appraisals in a timely manner
- Ensure completion of the annual requirement of 15 hours of professional development, including but not limited to HS/EHS required trainings
- Seek and attend workshops, conferences, classes and webinars to increase professional development knowledge
