- Oversees the improvement of the instrumentation equipment class and is recognized as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for that class with a strong knowledge of the application and interpretation of the Company and industry standards of that class of equipment
- Reviews and improves site standards, recommending changes to Company standards for instrumentation and related equipment
- Develops Instrumentation Improvement Plans that align with business goals and objectives
- Seeks reliability improvements directed at increasing plant equipment uptime in a proactive manner
- Provides quality control and design reviews of new projects that involve instrumentation equipment
- Works in a team environment with other Engineering disciplines as well as Operations and Maintenance personnel
- Provides leadership and oversight for equipment record system to ensure correct information is being collected
- Tracks and evaluates refinery Key Performance Indicators for the equipment class and analyzes any improvement opportunities
- Uses the industry methodology to identify "Bad Actors" within equipment class
- Identifies and evaluates technology upgrades with application opportunities within the refinery that meet B/C (Benefit to Cost) ratio targets
- Mentors less experienced Engineers and provides technical training to Operations and Maintenance personnel
- Provides assistance in the field during plant start-ups, shutdowns, or unit upsets
- Provides troubleshooting assistance
- Serves as a technical consultant and maintains a willingness to be available outside of normal working hours
- Provides Root Cause Failure Analysis expertise and support as needed for equipment failures
