Charles R.

Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising.

CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for under-represented students.


CDU offers the only historically black Doctor of Medicine program west of the Mississippi, and is strongly invested in the local and regional community.

The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.

SALARY RANGE:
$66,560-$94,700


Under the general supervision of the Program Manager for the Physician's Assistant Program, the Program Coordinator II provides general administrative activities that support program activities.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinates operations of the Program.
  • Monitors program performance and prepares performance reports.
  • Provides postaward administrative support including expenditure approvals, accounting detail, and reporting requirement information.
  • Manages community engagement events.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical records and documents used for progress reports.
  • Coordinates student activities including but not limited to orientation to the program, class schedules, recruitment and admissions, alumni relations, and student satisfaction and engagement beyond graduation.
  • Chooses appropriate, effective ways to communicate to different audiences in diverse situations.
  • Supports budget planning activities.
  • Assures course evaluations are completed by students and faculty.
  • Under direct supervision may write grant proposals.
  • Manages student files.
  • Writes clearly and accurately in a variety of contexts and formats.
  • Communicate issues promptly.
  • Schedules meetings, distributes materials, arranges logistics, prepares agenda, and maintains minutes.
  • Makes conference, travel, and lodging arrangements.
  • Must be able to work onsite.
  • Hours will vary based on student availability.
  • Some weekends may be required.
  • Some local travel may be required.

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor's degree (or a combination of education and experience). Masters preferred.
  • Valid CA driver's license and proof of insurance.

EXPERIENCE:


  • Seven to ten years of administrative experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience in student services and counseling.

SKILLS:


  • Communicate using persuasion and authority.
  • High level of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines.
  • Familiar with degree profession for PA
  • Strengthens alliances with other divisions to create opportunities internally and externally.
  • Arrives at conclusions based on previous experiences and exercises good judgment.
  • Sets priorities for the PA program with an appropriate sense of what is most important and plans with an appropriate and realistic sense of the time demand involved.
  • Understand the role of the function and how it fits into meeting the goals of the division.
  • Thorough understanding of their discipline.
  • Driving locally may be required.
  • Mid to advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Intermediate or advance experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
