About the Role:

The Director, Launch/Lifecycle Management & Competitive Readiness is responsible for future life cycle planning for new indications, formulations, and labels for in-line products in the Cardio-Renal-Metabolic therapeutic area portfolio and will develop deep forward-looking competitive intelligence, scenario planning and tactical planning.

This individual also leads Competitive Readiness (CR) leadership rooted in deep understanding of the external competitive environment and our internal product/portfolio strategies, with a focus on Heart Failure & Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease.

This role ensures our product/portfolio teams are in a constant state of readiness to anticipate and act on external macro-environmental market changes, competitor new launches and other competitor strategies in a legal and compliant manner.

Furthermore, they are accountable for leading the development and implementation of launch readiness for new indications/formulations as well as loss of exclusivity strategies, in collaboration cross-functionally across the therapeutic area portfolio.


About the Role:


Key Responsibilities:


  • Drive and ensure launch readiness for the product formulation, ensuring creation of a crossfunctionally robust launch plan and completion of all relevant launch readiness frameworks and approaches. Lead longterm planning for lifecycle management (LCM) across the Therapeutic Area portfolio. Develop and implement focused strategies for brand performance by evaluating insights, category trends, inmarket performance, and competitive activity
  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams including Medical Affairs, global development, Novartis Technical Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Trade and Market Access to ensure realization of LCM priorities. Proactively address/manage risks and escalating of issues. Ensure close coordination with peers and key matrix partners, such as Finance, on forecasts and cost projections and appropriate coordination with team members, and external vendors while partnering with key matrix team members (integrated Marketing, Sales, Analytics, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Digital Hub, etc.) to develop and implement the LCM strategy for implementation
  • Lead and collaborate with the competitive intelligence team and US crossfunctional teams to develop LCM framework for key products. Optimally roll out the LCM framework and implementation including training where needed
  • Develop effective business and competitive intelligence to provide unbiased and factbased competitive insights, benchmarking, and recommendations regarding commercialization strategies, crossfunctional strategies, and resource prioritization
  • Lead team analysis and/or independently perform strategic assessments of select competitor activities, including market situation analysis, strategic forecasting, strategic and operational benchmarking, and articulation of implications in legal and compliant manner.
  • Monitor/benchmark strategic plans and key developments of competitors to provide early warning for potential threats and opportunities for successful implementation of prioritized critical initiatives and tactical plans.
  • Lead efforts for the creation of effective intelligence programs (including annual budget planning etc.) in support of key partners involved in integrated product strategy.
  • Proactive surveillance of relevant Disease Area portfolio healthcare environment issues including policy, regulatory, health technology to identify key issues relevant to planning initiatives in the US. Partner with internal collaborators and external thought leaders to explore opportunities to grow competitive share, increase impact and improve profitability for Disease Area portfolio

What You'll Bring to the Role:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree is required in relevant area, MBA or advanced degree preferred


Essential Requirements:


  • Minimum 68 years US commercial experience preferably with multiple functional experience (including new products/ pipeline/ lifecycle management) in a pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or consulting environment, inclusive of at least 2 different types of crossfunctional roles/experience
  • US Market experience with launch and product lifecycle stages experience or General Manager experience in other countries
  • Possess a portfolio approach and experience uncovering and implementing innovative marketing strategies in a competitive marketplace.
  • Ability to be a leader and proactive custodian for consistent competitive readiness excellence

Desirable Requirements:


  • Experience in multiple therapeutic areas preferred
