Food Pantry Coordinator


STATUS:
Part-Time


CLASSIFICATION:
Non-Exempt


REPORTS TO:
Food Pantry Manager


MINIMUM PAY RATE:
$17/hour

***: Under the guidance of the Food Pantry Manager, the Food Pantry Coordinator supports the operations of the food pantry through a variety of tasks, including but not limited to supervision volunteers, purchasing and restocking of food pantry items, cost and quality control, and monthly statistics and reports.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Unload, sort, and stock food received from the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) and other vendors
  • Place food orders consistent with identified needs and demands
  • Recruit, train, schedule and supervise food pantry volunteers
  • Facilitate participation in the Direct Connect Program; drive SCC's vehicle, as needed, to pick up food from local retailers
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining food pantry equipment for proper and safe operation
  • Foster positive relationships with NIFB representatives and attend required meetings
  • Oversee routine maintenance checks and activities
  • Complete intakes and update client information using the Link2Feed database
  • Ensure the successful execution of bilingual nutrition classes through the review of curriculum, strategized outreach and direct support to the instructor
  • Maintain all necessary records including donation and disbursement receipts, volunteer logs, etc.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports in compliance with mandates set forth by the agency, vendors and grantors
  • Prepare community service letters for students and courtmandated volunteers; collaborate with school administrators and parole officers
  • Maintain organized and updated information required for food safety compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking in Spanish
  • Two (2) years of experience in a social services or related agency
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment, pallet jack and/or driving company vehicle preferred
  • High degree of cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with families from diverse racial, socioeconomic, ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must have Illinois Food Manager Certification

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday; 9am-5pm

Evenings and weekends as needed
