- Developing molecular and microbiology workflows (NGS) DNA sequencing of plasmids, bacterial genomes and 16sRNA
- Establishing workflows for adaptive lab evolution
- Creating pipelines for sequence data analysis
- Executing strain improvement projects that leverage the above capabilities
- Familiarity with design-of-experiments (DOE) based methodologies is preferred
- General proficiency with DNA assembly and microbe engineering is also preferred
- You will contribute to the technical and cultural foundations of this small and growing team
- Expertise with various sequencing platforms (Illumina, Oxford Nanopore), equipment, sample preparation, sequence analysis
- Experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques for DNA assembly, microbe engineering and assays
- Familiarity with developing, executing and improving genome engineering workflows
- Experience using statistics and design-of-experiments based approaches to strengthen experimental design and enable robust data analysis
- Ability to write software scripts to assist with querying databases, examining sequence data and analyzing experimental results
- A general awareness and understanding of basic fermentation processes and analytical chemistry
- Ability to communicate proactively and work effectively in cross-functional teams and collaborate synergistically with others across departments and disciplines
- Self starter with strong organizational skills, project management experience, and clear written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to build capabilities from the ground up
- Prior experience and / or a desire to develop mentorship and management skills

We are seeking a Scientist join us in the early stages of our journey and drive the development of our microbe engineering capabilities. As part of the Biology team at NovoNutrients, you will be responsible for developing DNA sequencing capabilities for characterizing our organisms, in addition to developing genetic screens and other workflows for microbe engineering. Company DescriptionBy taking NovoNutrients gas fermentation processes from floor-scale to near-term pilot to eventual commercial scales, we are creating low-carbon feed and food sources for the planet. We use bacteria that can capture CO2 using hydrogen energy, to produce food and feed products. NovoNutrients operates one of the world's leading and largest hydrogen-based biosynthesis laboratories, with bioreactors from 250ml to 55L. We have successfully developed and scaled non-GMO single cell protein and created GMO bacterial expression products. The company has developed core IP and is preparing to deploy pilot scale systems in the near term.
