    Description

    Commercial Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst

    Location: Onsite in Houston, TX

    Requirement: Must have experience in commercial trading

    Job Summary:

    • As a Senior Financial Analyst specializing in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), your role plays a crucial part in achieving the firm's goals:
    • Enhancing efficiency and boosting profitability: Collaborating closely with senior management to enhance the firm's efficiency and profitability.
    • Financial analysis and management reporting: Analyzing, reconciling, and presenting a comparison between the financial profitability based on U.S. GAAP and the mark-to-market economic profitability for the client's Supply and Trading businesses. This includes overseeing the creation, review, and preparation of regular and ad-hoc management reports. Providing insights to management on this profitability comparison.
    • Driving business decisions: Your data-driven financial analysis will influence leadership in making sound business decisions and understanding the timing of economic impacts in comparison to financial reporting.
    • Mentoring: Sharing your expertise to nurture the skills of upcoming analysts by offering guidance on best practices and skill advancement.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Specific experience in commodity market risk management within a reputable commodity trader, bank, hedge fund, or a relevant master's degree or higher in lieu of experience.
    • Proficient in establishing risk processes, financial processes, IT systems, and enhancing organizational performance.
    • Experience in managing and taking responsibility for risk analysis and financial modeling, with deep knowledge of risk management techniques covering market and operational risks.
    • Familiarity with energy commodity market structure, focusing on crude oil, refined products, and related commodities.
    • Prior experience with energy trading and risk management software platforms and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, or similar).
    • Foundational understanding of accounting and financial processes and reporting.
    • Basic knowledge of SAP.
    • Educational background in a quantitative discipline like finance, economics, mathematics, or engineering.
    • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including effective communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
    • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset that looks beyond immediate concerns for holistic solutions.
    • Demonstrated capability to thrive in a highly intricate, dynamic, and fast-paced team setting.
