This Role:

BioLite is looking for a passionate engineering Technician well-experienced in performing development activities.

You will work directly alongside an engineering team with a passion for energy systems, motivated by a powerful social mission.

You will support the development and qualification phases of new product opportunities focusing on emerging energy markets from benchtop concept, through development, into field demonstrations.

You'll work with the Product Development team, the Manufacturing team, and Supply-Chain partners to bring new energy products to the world.


You Will:


  • Help develop a new product specifically focused on bringing energy to developing countries such as South Africa.
  • Coordinate with the Brooklyn Design Engineering Team to complete development activities including prototyping, testing, and reporting.
  • Independently conduct engineering experiments, testing, and validation activities deploying typical EE and ME toolsets.
  • Support the construction of new engineering test workspaces: build lab layouts, order, procure, and assemble setup test equipment and associated fixturing,
  • Independently setup data acquisition equipment in and for remote locations
  • Travel: Internationally to emerging markets (South Africa) will be required at least once, accompanied by local and domestic partners to distribute, install, and collect data on deployed equipment.

You Have:


  • Ability to adapt to daily changing priorities
  • Experience safely working with High-Voltage V) for the purposes of measurement and development activities; AC preferred, DC accepted/demonstrated
  • Associate's Degree in an Engineering Focus or
  • 2+ years' experience in the engineering field with relevant experience in:
  • Testing and developing Battery modules and packs
  • Testing and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • Mechanical designtest attributes
  • Experience in interpreting/designing schematics, prints, datasheets
  • Coordinating with firmware and hardware engineers
  • Using electrical test equipment: Oscilloscopes, load banks and power supplies, battery cyclers, communications analysis, meters, probes, etc
  • Soldering, assembling mechanical devices, wire harness assembly
  • Experience soldering, constructing mechanical assemblies, working with power tools typically used in fabrication processes
  • Experience in generating data plots & graphs, commenting on observations
  • A valid passport for international travel; or will acquire one within (8) weeks of hire
