- Partner with EMS program leadership, Supply Chain, Quality, and Systems to advise on adoption of new Materials and Process technologies with eye toward fulfilling short-term and long-term business goals.
- Partner with Supply Chain to resolve production and near production materials technology issues. Initiate and proactively participate in reviews to identify impending roadblocks.
- Partner with the EMS consulting engineers and TRL/MRL leaders to select concepts from our material systems roadmaps and help guide the implementation of early technology projects.
- Execute technical material development programs with an aim to burn down technical risk associated with maturing these materials, leveraging domain expertise in the field.
- Collaborate with horizontal teams (materials, design, manufacturing) to advance the technical maturity of coating technologies using the TRL/MRL process while meeting programmatic milestones.
- Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and materials science to develop new coating systems with desired performance for metallic and composite materials.
- Provide technical documentation to support peer and customer reviews.
- Present data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
- Recommend approaches to solve materials and manufacturing process-related issues utilizing current best practices to influence high-risk items and improve designs.
- Proactively identify lessons learned and best practices and ensure appropriate documentation.
- Communicate significant developments with leadership and consult on technical roadmap development to inform the future direction of technology development.
- Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Material Engineering, or closely related technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Secret Clearance.
- Literate in current Office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.)
- 1.5+ years of experience with materials and process development.
- Experience with material selection, material testing, material testing processes, and manufacturing processes.
- Existing DoD Security Top Secret or Secret Clearance.
- Experience leading a technical development program, managing budgets, and communicating milestone commitments.
- Knowledge of APQP and Statistical Process Control.
- GE Green Belt Certified.

The Advanced Military Materials Application Engineer will help guide various material system decisions for our next generation products with innovative material and process solutions. This includes Additive, metallic, CMC and coating technologies. The candidate for this role will help execute the application of new technologies onto hardware and ensure legacy coating and coating system vitality. This requires a strong partnership with Design, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to develop Coating technology.Job Description
