Rutherford College is a dynamic acute care hospital providing specialized medical services and is one of nine companies under the umbrella of the municipal health holding company Lüneburg, the largest employer and training provider in the region. As an academic teaching hospital of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Rutherford College offers a wide range of medical services with thirteen clinics and institutes and over 563 beds. In addition, there are four affiliated departments, an orthopedic and rheumatology surgery clinic, and a nursing school.

We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Controlling Officer (m/f/d) to join our team as soon as possible. The Medical Controlling department is responsible for both outpatient and inpatient billing. Working closely with coding specialists, patient admissions, and discharge management, the Medical Controlling department serves as a link between the clinical service providers and the hospital management.

Your responsibilities:


  • Processing of MD cases (including conducting case discussions, individual case reviews, dispute resolution procedures, and handling legal cases)
  • Coordination of the annual structural review by the Medical Service, including preparation, support during the review, and communication of the results
  • Monitoring and evaluation of the electronic duty roster system (ensuring conditions for billing complex treatments)
  • Close collaboration with stakeholders from all areas of the hospital and health insurance companies
