    Position Summary

    Staff Data Scientist at Walmart

    Are you a hardcore numbers person who would enjoy solving some of business' toughest challenges by illuminating phenomena and opportunity held within one of the world's largest data sets? As a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart, you will work with mammoth scale and volume of global data to create insights that influence decision-making at an unprecedented scale.

    About Us

    The Marketing Decision Science team at Walmart focuses on developing data-driven models and services to bring high-quality demand from offsite digital sites to Walmart E-Commerce sites cost-effectively. We aim to sustain and accelerate the growth of Walmart E-Commerce by cultivating a loyal base of omni-channel customers.

    We are a highly motivated group of Big Data Geeks, Machine Learning Scientists, and Applications Engineers working together in a small agile group to solve sophisticated and high-impact problems. Our focus is on building smart data systems that analyze massive data flows from online and offline user activity using cutting-edge machine learning and data mining algorithms.

    You'll make an impact by

    • Processing complicated and large-scale datasets using distributed computing platforms
    • Building advanced machine learning and deep learning models for marketing applications
    • Running large-scale statistical A/B testing to evaluate model performance
    • Creating data visualizations and interactive dashboards for sharing business insights

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with 4 years' experience in machine learning
    • Strong hands-on skills in data manipulation using Python, R, SQL, Spark, Hive, etc.
    • Experience in traditional and modern machine learning and statistical techniques
    • Experience with end-to-end modeling projects
    • Strong communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with 2 years' experience in machine learning
    • Experience mentoring junior data scientists
    • Industrial experience in relevant areas such as recommendation systems or e-commerce
    • Proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, Scala

    Additional Information The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00 with possible performance bonuses and stock options.
