SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develop and implement behavior support plans and behavioral data collection forms or data collection methodologies for assigned individuals.

Work as part of the interdisciplinary team to assist individuals in identifying and making choices about their behavioral goals.


Within specified time frames provide the necessary training and support to program staff on the implementation of behavior support plans.

Ensure that plans are consistently being followed and modified, as appropriate.


Develop and maintain relationships with family members, residential providers, consultants and other internal and external professionals to ensure that behavior support plans are coordinated with the overall plan of service.


Design and facilitate training programs, as needs dictate, to ensure that new employees and current staff are familiar with appropriate behavioral interventions, behavior modification techniques, etc.

(i.e. PMT and Behavior Management).


Provide crisis intervention and support at community sites and direct supervision/support to workers who are unable to participate with their work crew or other program activities on any given day.


Assess physical environment of all service locations, to include but not be limited to, 432 Washington Avenue, North Haven, community worksites, recreational facilities and other community settings, vehicles used for transport of individuals, and sidewalks, walkways, corridors, parking lots and other pathways used while escorting individuals to/from various locations, to avoid potential hazards, including those that may occur in crowded conditions.

Report safety hazards to immediate supervisor or to appropriate personnel as well as to appropriate team members or Agency personnel (i.e. Transportation Coordinator or other departmental staff, Safety Committee Chairman, etc.).

Complete and provide required documentation and communication to meet agency, state, federal, and interdisciplinary standards and guidelines.

Assist with worker transportation as required, including use of personal vehicle.

Provide substitute coverage for direct care staff as needed.

Perform other related essential duties as directed by supervision.


Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, special education, social work, or related field.

Experience in working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, developing behavior support plans, analyzing and summarizing data


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read and interpret documents such as client files, evaluation reports, behavior support plans, job descriptions, personnel procedures and safety rules.

Ability to write behavior support plans, summary reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate with others.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.


REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to assist individuals with appropriate social behavior to facilitate integration and inclusion. Ability to act as an advocate for individuals receiving services.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Connecticut driver's license. Board certified behavior analyst preferred. Secure a Public Service License within ninety (90) days of hire.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to obtain approved Behavior Management, CPR and First Aid certification.
