Job Summary

Position is responsible for providing fitness assessments, floor monitoring, personal training sessions, and group exercise classes to new and established members of the Wellness Center.

Proactively promotes sales leadership.

Behavioral and Phycology knowledge is a plus

Bilingual - English and Spanish preferred

Shift:
Hours vary depending on business needs between 8AM to 12PM Monday through Saturday (alternating Saturdays) There is not a set schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field or at least three (3) years of fitness training experience.

Licenses/Certifications:
Nationally recognized fitness certification, or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

Demonstrated ability to achieve quarterly productivity standards of 40% of worked time spent doing billable activities (classes, personal training sessions, fitness lectures, etc.), for a consistent three (3) month time period.

Principal Accountabilities

Conducts fitness assessments and exercise orientation sessions for new members.
Provides floormonitoring services: palpating heart rate, recording blood pressure and educating members about personal exercise programs.
Directs members to other Wellness Center programs and services, when appropriate.
Develops individual and group personal training sessions and assessments, providing individual instruction about each exercise recommended with correct form and range of movement.
Motivates members to complete each exercise and progress to greater levels of physical fitness.
Provides excellent customer service by responding to members' requests in a professional manner.
Identifies opportunities to increase member retention levels, by proactively providing information on Wellness Center programs and services.
Promotes sales leadership by developing and maintaining a loyal client base.
Maintains continued contact with clients to promote member retention and increase the number of client referrals.
Conducts equipment care and maintenance by cleaning and lubricating exercise equipment.
Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports departmentbased goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
