Position Summary:
Leads small group training classes using proper exercise techniques and motivation.
Essential Functions:
- Promotes and incorporates the YMCA five core values into all activities.
- Plans and develops fitness programs to implement during small group training classes.
- Observes and discusses individual progress with participants. Develops rapport with members and responds to questions related to fitness.
- Offers alternatives during class to accommodate different fitness levels.
- Monitors participants to ensure safe workout; responds to and reports, accidents and incidents.
- Prepares room and equipment prior to class and properly secures room/area and equipment following the class; reports equipment and/or facility problems to supervisor promptly
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Reports all incidents and complete accident reports as necessary.
- Responds to member questions and/or concerns.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Follows all YMCA policies and safety and emergency procedures and processes.
- Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.

Qualifications:
- Minimum age of1
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- National Personal Training certification (see list below) or Primary Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFAA, NASM).
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
- Previous experience working as a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor or Small Group Training Instructor is preferred.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.

- Certified Personal Trainer Instructor (CPFT)
- NETA Certified Personal Training
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply
