Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospitals and 19 outpatient facilities, which treat half a million patients annually through 2,600 affiliated physicians.


This is a benefited, part time (48 hours every 2 weeks) position generally working 8-hr shifts on weekdays sometime between 7am-7pm. Located at Scripps Clinic in Encinitas.

Your job duties:


  • Predominantly backoffice responsibilities but is expected to help with frontoffice duties on an asneeded basis
  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician's practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry, acquisition of precertifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:


  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR
  • Medical Assistance Certification OR
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman

Required Certification/Registration:


  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:


  • One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting

Position Pay Range:
$22.29-$30.58/hour
