JOB DESCRIPTION:

PAYROLL MANAGER

CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE
This exempt position is responsible for activities associated with the payroll system, file management, payroll tax
procedures (weekly and quarterly), as well as associated administrative support.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The examples of functions listed in this job description are representative, but not necessarily exhaustive, of any one position in

this job classification. Management may assign other functions not listed herein at its sole discretion.
- review weekly field payroll reports for accuracy in a timely manner;
- responsible for updating annual labor union increases;
- reviews new hire packets for all employees for office employees, spot check field employees;
- maintains updated record of direct deposit and non-direct deposit employees;
- provides payroll information by answering questions and requests;
- update quarterly PTO accrual;
- interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures;
- update pay rates for annual merit increases;
- remit weekly payroll taxes;
- processes garnishment orders;
- ensure payroll responsibilities are efficient, timely, and accurate;
- ensure certified payroll report is submitted weekly;
- open to attending or taking educational workshops to maintain professional and technical knowledge needed;
- organize and facilitate weekly staff meeting with payroll team to discuss updates and weekly duties;
- audit certified payroll from subcontractors;
- performs other duties as assigned;
- improves payroll efficiency by standardizing or streamlining processes;
- ensure proper governmental reporting and compliance;
- manage all payroll audits;
- oversee the payroll hold list;
- provide guidance, direction, feedback and support to the payroll team with respect to their position and

responsibilities;
- reconcile payroll and related liability accounts in the general ledger each pay period;
- manage inactive employees in American Contractor;
- attends and conducts meetings;

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge,
skills, and competencies for this position includes at least two (3) years of professional experience as the primary
point of contact for a corporate payroll system, file management maintenance system, and administrative
responsibilities equivalent to that described above.

SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Pre-employment: Incumbents must sign the Confidentiality, Non-disclosure, and Non-solicitation Agreement prior to
their first day on the job.

License:
Incumbents are not required to possess a valid California driver's license.

Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.

Language:
While fluent English communication skills are required of this job classification, additional skills involving
Spanish are highly desirable.

Certifications:
No certifications are required of this job classification.

Working Conditions:
Work is predominately in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer
screen exposure.
