    Get To Know The Opportunity:

    Data Exchange from Benefitfocus automates and accelerates health insurance enrollment and renewals through a rich portfolio of data integrations with third-parties. From the simple to the most complex file-based and API integrations, we help health plans reduce costs and better serve their customers through seamless dataexchangeto powereligibility, enrollment and billing transactions between insurance carriers, benefits administration platforms and other benefits partners.We're seeking a data integration rockstar with a passion for bringing that data to life through modern digital experiences to join the team.

    The Data Exchange Product Owner acts as the organizational business leader for theproduct and is responsible forproduct definition and execution of the business strategy through coordination of the agile scrum team. This includes managing the scrum team through feature level break down, user story definition and product backlog refinement. The Product Owner leads cross functional teams including User Experience, Quality Assurance and Engineering across multiple technology products to ensure execution of a cohesive customer experience. The Product Owner's job also includes consultation and oversight with the Customer Success organization to drive alignment with product direction where necessary. The Product Owner works closely with the Product Manager to ensure execution of strategic direction based on market opportunity and business needs.

    Contributions You Will Make:

  • The Product Owner is a leader for a high performing team. They often work on complex product and technology areas and collaboratively design and implement features of a large product and/or new product area.They can outline and present compelling visionary and strategic recommendations.
  • Creates, owns and manages a backlog of user stories and the supporting information to enable a scrum(s) team to complete the development work and QA. Determines the priority of features and functionality based on collaboration with business partners. Collaborates with others to define the "how" for features and functionality with various stakeholders and constituents.Ensures all the various components/features help achieve the goals for the broad vision of the product.
  • Technology knowledge: Leverages knowledge of Benefitfocustechnology and technology in general (APIs, File Integrations, and End User Digital Experiences) to create more innovative solutions to deliver value to the market and stakeholders. Generatespossible solution ideas to aligned with the platform strategy and business strategy. Recommends modifications to better align with the success metrics. Documents all of the use cases for what the team is building/will build and eliminates most of the 'gotchas' because of their foresight on potential issues and they mitigate them early.
  • Understands the audience that will most care about what you are building and works with product marketing and other partners to create communication materials that articulate why it is important to each audience and how the product improve/impact them.
  • Data, Feedback and Connection to Customers: Utilizes data they gather and from the product manager to support the roadmap and strategy and creates a talk track and 'story' to ensure team members connect with the What and the Why. Actively creates opportunities to get internal and external feedback through formal and informal feedback loops (Ideas Community, Customer interactions, Sales, etc.) to identifyadditional backlog items, enhancements, minimize pain points and gain efficiency.
  • Builds High Performing Team: Deepens relationships across different teams, departments, stakeholders and clients in support of sprint/release/project goals. Collaborates and problem solves closely with theirengineering counterpart. Sets strong working agreements and quickly acts when relationships and conversations are off track.
  • Valuable, High Quality Product/Feature creation: Completes high quality and good examples of product documentation (feature guides) to articulate what the team has developed. Support other documentation when necessary (confluence pages, ppt, meetings, and training videos) to support the adoption and maintenance.
  • Communication: Reaches out to stakeholders and leaders to support effective product reviews, walk-throughs and education to interested parties to ensure features are fully understood and utilized to their maximum capabilities. Is creative on the medium (videos, infographic etc.) to ensure the message is absorbed.
  • Product & Company Knowledge: Subject matter experts over theirproduct area and understands how their product and users interacts with other products in the company and ecosystem and how the larger end to end experience works.
  • Alignment to goals/vision: Understands can articulate/retell the product vision and roadmap in collaboration with product managers and business unit/platform partners. Creatively collaborates on how to show and share the vision and strategy with others.
  • Problem solver: Communicate the progress of the scrum team and raise awareness when issues arise that prohibit the project from successfully moving forward. Escalates to the right leaders in a well thought out order and context to move things forward. Provides clear recommendations on possible solutions and the pros and the cons.
  • Models core values: Creates an atmosphere that others want to work in and are supported to do their best. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the team/people they work with and actively works to ensure the voices and ideas of others are included. People seek out opportunities to work with you.
  • Valued Partner: Collaborates and aligns closely with the Product Manager(s). The PM quantifies the overall success of the product as well as areas of opportunity with the support the PO and the health of the product is taken into consideration from the engineering perspective.
  • Connects the dots: Quickly sees the connection of their backlog to others backlogs and proactively engages to create an interlock.Ensure all the various components help achieve the goals for the broad vision of the product and will work together when delivered.
  • Outside in market thinking: Lead cross functional definition about the success of a product. What makes a product or feature successful and how do we know it's successful? How do we measure success?
  • Minimum Knowledge and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in software development.
  • Experience: 5-7years of experience in software development recommended in addition to education requirements.
  • Deep expertise in Health Plans and/or Benefit Administration, specifically Data Exchange of Benefits Enrollment & Eligibility including APIs andbatch file processing (ie 834)
  • Experience building modern web applications in a product-driven environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of the product and software development lifecycle.
  • Recognized as a role model for leading development teams and building high performing teams that have strong velocity of delivery with quality.
  • Breadth and depth of technology knowledge that is necessary to develop ensuring platform strategies and build quality software products.
  • Motivated, self-starter results-oriented team player willing to do "whatever it takes" in a dynamic and stimulating environment.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compensation Pay Disclosure:

    Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

    The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya may offer incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

    Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
