- Teaches up to three sections of an elective class each day.
- Follows the scope and sequence and generates internalization plans for daily class lessons.
- Actively engages in the observation and feedback cycle with the Dean of Culture and shows evidence of improvement in performance.
- Analyze student work and performance and addresses misconceptions and gaps in learning.
- Consistently communicates with students and families about student progress and offers support and opportunities for students to improve.
- Engages in the professional learning community by actively participating in professional development, grade level and department meetings.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Culture to develop, implement, and monitor a school-wide culture plan that includes routines and expectations for students and staff in and outside of the classroom.
- Track and monitor student discipline data to develop necessary school-wide support.
- Create clear rewards and consequences for how well individual students and student cohorts meet conduct expectations aligned to the code of conduct.
- Use discipline data to plan and facilitate monthly professional development and support teacher teams with problems of practice.
- Creates inclusive environments that honor and support a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Models GOLCS core values and sets the standard for professional behavior.
- Is highly present and visible during school hours to ensure a positive school climate and environment.
- Works with the Dean of Culture to help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individual students and groups of students
- Provide interventions to students with personal and social development needs impeding positive behavioral outcomes
- Implement behavior management tools (Dean's List), including overseeing staff training in behavior management policies, techniques, and strategies, and ensuring the consistent deployment of such tools school-wide;
- Document and track progress of behavior intervention programs
- Meet with students referred by teachers for behavioral problems, communicates and meets with the students' parents/guardians, and ensures that consequences for infractions are fairly and consistently implemented throughout the school;
- Supports and drives the behavior management and incentive system at the school.
- Respond to acute behavioral issues; coordinates in-school and out-of-school suspensions, ensuring regulatory compliance; and oversees school safety
- Create a proactive system to address the needs of challenging behaviors with Sage counselor
- Assists the student support process in collaboration with the Student Support Team (SST) to ensure students receive behavioral academic interventions.
- Communicates with parents and families to share progress, as well as behavior and academic concerns.
- Creates a healthy, high-achieving environment where staff feel challenged, supported, and valued.
- Engage families in understanding grade level expectations, setting student goals, and providing specific supports to their child/ren.
- Analyze data, identify trends and develop action plans to address areas of concern.
- Run weekly DeansList reports to analyze the usage of the incentive and discipline system and develop support plans for teachers who need support.
- Support with the administration of the Panorama survey for students and analyze data to identify trends and develop action plans to address areas of concern.
- Implement and ensure the school-wide use of information technology tools for reporting and documenting infractions, and ensures that proper records are kept of communications with parents regarding discipline.
- College degree: has a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Teaching Experience: has taught for a minimum of four years and has student achievement scores to speak to their effectiveness. As a leader for teachers in our organization, the person in this role needs to have walked the walk.
- Deep content expert: stays afloat of current research in school culture and instruction via reading and professional development.
- Strong data analysis skills: can look at a multiple departments' data set, diagnose challenges, and immediately recommend clear next steps for their teams of teachers
- Visionary and dreamer: can develop and drive an inspirational and audacious vision for their team that will yield results for students.
- Detail-oriented and logistical: prioritizes the micro details as much as the vision and can take an idea from theory to practice.
- Excellent communication skills: can speak and write clearly, specifically, and cohesively about the discipline and all the nitty gritty details stakeholders will need to know in order to achieve results for students.
- Just do it: does not always need to be told what to do; has insight to determine what needs to be done based on assessing gaps and asking the appropriate questions; can manage multiple projects at once
- An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational leadership.
- A state issued license as a teacher, supervisor, or principal.

Assistant Deans of Culture drives school culture, coaches teachers and teaches. Assistant Deans of Culture support the development of our teachers to drive outcomes for students.Assistant Deans of Culture are model teachers who drive results for students in their own classrooms, are pedagogical experts who can teach the art and science of teaching to others, and have experience leading, managing, and coaching adults.
The Assistant Academic Dean's primary responsibility is to drive and own instructional outcomes for students by way of teaching and supporting teachers.
