    JOB SUMMARY:

    Lead the Human Resources function at Sheridan's Wisconsin (Worzalla) print manufacturing facility. Manage the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies, programs, or procedures to improve organizational effectiveness, drive employee recruitment, retention, and engagement, and to support the company's ability to achieve its growth and profitability objectives.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Establish productive relationships and maintain HR department credibility with management and employees at all levels as a positive, approachable, and effective force in dealing with individual people issues or problems that may affect the workforce on a broader basis.
    • Partner with the management team to understand and deliver the organization's human resource and talent strategy, both immediate and long-term.
    • Staff the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Actively participate in regular business meetings with other company leadership to review business results, set goals, track progress, and solve issues.
    • Collaborate with CJK/Sheridan HR team to develop, standardize, and administer various human resources plans, policies, and procedures both locally and across all of CJK/Sheridan.
    • Listens carefully to interpret employee and management concerns including complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues; maintain confidentiality; provide advice and methodology for problem solving to management and others. Promptly investigate and resolve any allegations or issues; recommend or implement disciplinary actions when such steps are necessary based upon investigation results.
    • Staff the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner. Manage employee retention through appropriate hiring practices. Manages overall recruitment program for all exempt and nonexempt employees, students, and temporary employees; new-employee orientations; monitors career path program, employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing; writes and places advertisements. Track and report turnover statistics to determine if problems exist in specific departments or functional areas.
    • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
    • Implements and updates job descriptions as necessary; develops and recommends a merit program (salary budget) to management to be implemented in concert with an effective performance appraisal program; analyzes compensation for internal equity; monitors performance evaluation programs and revises as necessary
    • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base pay and pay practices to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
    • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
    • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Prepares information requested or required for compliance. Keeps supervision up to date with the latest legal updates.
    • Actively assists managers and supervisors to resolve problems associated with personnel in their assigned areas. Coach leaders in a variety of areas including company policy and legal requirements, hiring, performance management, employee training and development and dealing with organizational change.
    • Establishes workplace policies, procedures and programs that includes workplace health, safety, security, career path programs, training, development, and performance management.
    • Manages administration of all HR recordkeeping and reporting, including all Affirmative Action tracking and records.
    • Ensures that HR updates the HRIS with new and revised employee information, that supervision has approved all timecards, and that all required data is submitted (timely and accurately) bi-weekly to the payroll department.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years' HR management experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
    • 2+ years' supervisory experience
    • Solid computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
    • Strong attention to detail and deadlines
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's Degree preferred
    • SPHR or PHR certification
    • HR experience in a manufacturing environment

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimal travel for job fairs, company meetings, etc.


    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. Position primarily entails sedentary work performed at a desk and requires prolonged use of computer. Minimal physical exertion is expected, but flexibility to adapt to occasional tasks that involve light physical effort is necessary.
