Applicants must be a team player and have the ability to multi-task.

This position will be required to:

• Greet, escort and prepare patients for physician visits/procedures and update their medical histories in the EMR.
• Assist physician with patient exams and all surgical procedures.
• Obtain medical histories, take blood pressure, administer medications, remove sutures, bandage wounds, provide patient instructions, etc.
• Responsible for handling, cleaning, packaging, sterilizing and maintenance of instruments and operating room equipment used in surgical procedures while adhering to OSHA guidelines.
• Complete daily statistical data and provide yearly totals (e.g., infection rates).
• Act as laboratory assistant as necessary, assisting with coverslipping of microscope slides.
• Stock and clean exam and procedure room tables.
• Address all phone messages in a timely manner following proper procedures.
• Obtain preauthorizations and referrals as needed for medications, treatments and procedures.
• Adhere to procedures for processing and tracking pathological specimens and other diagnostic testing.
• Perform other duties as requested

Applicants must have:

• Minimum 1 year working in a medical setting, physician practice preferred, however not required
• Working Knowledge of OSHA standards for laboratories and a medical practice
• Strong computer skills
• Strong communication skills
• Outgoing and friendly personality
• Professional demeanor
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work well with fellow employees
• Ability to recognize the needs of patients and coworkers and respond to situations and questions without prompting

Pay:
$ $23.00 per hour

Experience:

Surgical Assisting: 1 year (preferred)
Medical Assisting: 1 year (required)
