Kid Care Group Leader

School Year position
$ per hour

Definition

This position works under the Direction of the Program Director; runs activities, assists fellow staff, and performs general care for participants in a licensed afterschool program.

Supervision

Works under the supervision of the Program Director and/or lead teachers; work in accordance with established procedures, departmental policies and standards.


Performs a variety of responsible duties which require attention to detail and accuracy and the exercise of considerable judgment and initiative in carrying out.

Serve as a positive team member. Contributes to the collective success of the program.

Work Environment

The employee operates standard office equipment, sports equipment, classroom equipment.

The employee continually assesses the appropriateness of activities, the safety of equipment and the safety of the site.

Errors could result in personal injury, injury to others, and legal repercussions.

Responsibilities:

Assists in overseeing activities.

Responsible for the general care of participants at the program.

Assists fellow staff.


Maintains cleaning and upkeep of the facility and maintain an orderly physical environment and monitor safety situations at all times.

Follows licensing procedures to safeguard the health and safety of the children at all times

Performs similar or related work as required, or as situation dictates.

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

An associate's degree and a minimum of three months experience working with school age children or a high school diploma and six months experience working school age children including three months of supervised experience at a school age child care program.

Additional Requirements
Valid Massachusetts motor vehicle operator's license
CPR/First Aid Certified

Knowledge, Ability and Skill
Familiarity with programs designed for pre-school ages. Should be knowledgeable in age appropriate activities for children ages

Ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with other town employees and the general public. Ability to motivate and encourage participation in programs. Ability to plan and organize activities. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing with people of all ages.

Excellent planning, organizational and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements
Moderate physical effort is generally required to perform duties at program sites.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, speak and hear, use hands to operate equipment, climb or balance and is routinely required to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Vision requirements include the ability to read routine documents, use a computer and operate an automobile.
