Scope of Work:
Director of safety for electrical contractors
- Company vehicle can be provided
- Will be inspecting safety equipment and job sites
- Will review and revise the company's policies and procedures
Position approx Start:
ASAP
Position Hours/Schedule:40 Hours, 1st Shift, M-F
Certification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, OSHA 30, OSHA DOL card & 5+ years of construction safety experience.
Job Summary:
The Safety Director will develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and equipment to promote and ensure health and safety to all employees.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: _
- Oversees the organization's safety and security operations.
- Duties/Responsibilities: _
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and theft of equipment.
- Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements when necessary.
- Provides expert guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing exposure to dangerous conditions.
- Tours job sites and communicate with workers to identify safety risks and concerns.
- Drafts reports, highlighting dangerous procedures, equipment, and other risks for management review.
- Reviews, revises, maintains, and implements the organization's safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Review current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Develops and implements a system to report, monitor, and correct safety issues.
- Collaborates with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) representatives' audits and inspections; documents corrective actions taken.
- Adopts a proactive approach to providing a safe working environment; provides training and guidance to employees via safety bulletins, documentation, and training meetings.
- Maintains knowledge of hazard prevention and safety best practices, equipment, and developments.
- Oversees operations of vehicle and equipment locate software as well as conducting physical inspections to ensure all vehicles and equipment have GPS Tracking Devices.
- Conducts asset loss investigations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Required Skills/Abilities: _
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify unsafe situations or potentially unsafe situations.
- Thorough understanding of electrical principles and health and safety laws.
- Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Education and Experience: _
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field required.
- Successful Completion of the OSHA 30 Certification
- OSHA DOL Card
- At least five years of experience in a construction environment required.
- Physical Requirements: _
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Must be able to travel job sites for all locations and make visual inspections of safety practices and conditions.
