Summary

The Renal Section of the Corporal Michael J Crescenz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC) in Philadelphia is seeking an outstanding full-time Renal Transplant Physician Assistant committed to the VA mission of providing outstanding clinical care to veterans with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) who are transplant candidates, and to patients with kidney transplants.

Duties
Experience with evaluation of patients with CKD, transplant candidacy and post-transplant outpatient care are highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the pre-transplant evaluation and workup of patients with CKD and ESKD and for providing post renal transplant outpatient care.

Renal transplant surgery is performed at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center or at other academic and community centers.

The candidate is expected to have a central role in the coordination of care between CMCVAMC and the various transplant centers in collaboration with the renal transplant team consisting of 2 renal transplant Nephrologists, a renal transplant Nurse Coordinator and a Physician Assistant.

It is expected that the candidate will participate in continuous quality improvement and other projects related to the renal transplant program.

Basic knowledge about CKD management is preferred. We seek candidates who have demonstrated excellent communication and collaboration skills. The Department of Veterans Affairs offers a competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Diagnose patients using the correct equipment in determining and evaluating the extent and nature of kidney disorders or injuries
Evaluates kidney donor compatibility and legal or ethical donor sourcing
Administer antirejection treatment to preclude rejection in kidney transplants
Keep abreast with new developments in kidney disorderrelated developments and medication via Continuous Medical Education
Maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated and filed physically or in a computer database
