    Detailed Job Description

    General Summary:

    The Analyst will have primary responsibility for the RIT Campus Store and the Book Store of the Future (Campus Store) reporting, and will assist in the performance of various accounting, cash management, and financial reporting and system administration tasks.

    Including; performing account reconciliations; processing journal entries; processing purchase order requests; reviewing transactions to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements.

    Supports the auxiliaries' analytical function of the shared service center, including predictive and other advanced analytics, sales and profit projections, and retail operations decision support studies.


    Major Responsibilities:


    Reconcile daily tender receipts (cash, credit cards, tiger bucks, and gift cards), review over/short reports, perform cash audits and ensure that correct cash and payment card handling procedures are followed.

    Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) system monthly sales and inventory to the Oracle general ledger. Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations for accounts receivable and contra accounts. Identify and resolve issues.
    Complete the month-end closing procedures including preparation of sales, inventory, rebate and promotion reporting.

    Prepare month-end entries including accounts receivable, sales, cost of goods, web sales, repairs, chargeback entries, rebates, and departmental purchases, deposits in transit, inventory adjustments and promotions.

    Prepare monthly reporting packet for management including department statements and other reporting; research fluctuations and resolve issues.

    Provide accounting support and excellent customer services to Campus Store, SSC Staff, Controller's Office staff, and other areas as needed.

    Compile data from a variety of systems to record accounting transactions in the general ledger timely and accurately. Continually review source data to ensure the information is accurate; identify and research outliers.
    Reconcile budget to actual data, research significant year-over-year fluctuations and provide explanations. Identify trends needing further analysis and/or management review.

    Extract, transform, analyze, and summarize large volumes of data using various tools including the Campus Store's MBS system, Oracle, and Tableau, etc.

    Understand functional areas' business requirements and translate into technical specifications and user friendly reports and dashboards.
    Design and develop online reporting dashboards that effectively summarize information and communicate trends or patterns.
    Analyze complex data structures, synthesize the findings, and present to technical and non-technical audiences.
    Perform other duties as requested by management

    Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training/professional develop annually (or a pro rata amount based on standard working hours).

    Training must be applicable to the employee's role current within the Controller's Division with the intent of enhancing overall knowledge as well as the specific skills, whether functional or technical, required to perform successfully in the position.

    Department/College Description

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education/Experience:
    BS in a quantitative business discipline (e.g. Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management Information Systems)
    Five to six years related accounting and financial analysis experience, supporting business technology platforms and or educational initiatives
    OR
    A combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience with business technology platforms.


    Skills:


    Must possess strong communication skills, customer service orientation, consensus-building skills, and ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization.

    Hands-on experience building dashboards with Tableau or equivalent BI tools.
    Demonstrated experience in querying, cleaning and transforming large data sets.
    Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
    Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
    Flexible computer skills including the suite of Microsoft Office products, and modern collaboration tools such as Zoom, Slack and GoogleDocs
