Essential duties and responsibilities (perform other duties as assigned):

  • Schedule and give tours to interested families and conduct intake interviews.
  • Assist in hiring, training and scheduling program staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct and facilitate regular staff meetings.
  • Manage daily before and after school operations; including lesson planning and implementation of activities.
  • Create and maintain family files and ensure proper record keeping.
  • Keeping site and program in compliance with State of California Licensing Regulations; correcting any deficiencies in the required manner, forwarding all inspection notices to supervisor.
  • Responsible for tuition billing and collection, including billing and tracking of reimbursements from subsidized programs.
  • Create staff schedule and ensure proper coverage in accordance with licensing rules and regulations.
  • Address any parent, staff, or licensing concerns in a professional manner.
  • Reach goals set by management and adhere to deadlines.

  • Responsible for the supervision of assistant director, teachers, and teacher aides_

Required Qualifications (must answer YES to one of the following options):


  • OPTION 1_
A bachelor's degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis

in early childhood education or child development

1) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations.

2) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be related to the care of infants.

3) Twelve of the 15 units required) above shall include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.


AND


At least 2 years of progressively responsible teaching experience in a day care center or child development program, at least one of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

OPTION 2_

An associate of arts degree from an accredited or approved college or university with a major or emphasis in early childhood education or child development

1) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations.

2) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be related to the care of infants.

3) Twelve of the 15 units required) above shall include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.


AND


At least 3 years of progressively responsible teaching experience in a day care center or child development program, at least one of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

OPTION 3_

High school graduation or GED; AND completion, with passing grades, of 15 semester or equivalent quarter units as specified below

1) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be in administration or staff relations.

2) Three semester or equivalent quarter units shall be related to the care of infants.

3) Twelve of the 15 units required) above shall include courses that cover the general areas of child growth and development, or human growth and development; child, family and community, or child and family; and program/curriculum.


AND


At least 4 years of progressively responsible teaching experience in a day care center or child development program, at least one of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

OPTION 4_


A Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

*Approved schools, colleges or universities, including correspondence courses offered by the same, means those approved/authorized by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Postsecondary Education, or by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.

  • Accredited schools, colleges or universities, including correspondence courses offered by the same, means those accredited by any one of the following recognized accrediting agencies:
(1) Accrediting Commission, Distance Education and Training Council.

(2) Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

(3) Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.

(4) Association of Independent Colleges and Schools.

(5) National Association of Trade and Technical Schools.


Additional required qualifications:


  • 16 hours of health, safety, and lead poisoning training
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
  • Successful completion of the California Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training for Child Care Providers.
