Job Description Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible for materials management, planning and for staffing and managing plant activities and people to optimize operational efficiencies to provide a competitive cost and value advantage for Surgery products.

Exceed customers' expectations for quality and service. Direct

the plant to meet or exceed all Federal, State, and Local Safety, Environmental and GMP Regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:


  • Develop short and longterm strategies for optimization of manufacturing operations in concert with Division and Corporate
  • Objectives and provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing organization.
  • Continually access personnel requirements against planned workload and take corrective action to assure optimum balance.
  • Identify production needs and constraints, contribute to upstream planning and provide objective, timely feedback to functions whose activities can impact production's ability to operate effectively. Assure mutual support and integrate activities involving other functional areas (AME, Production, Purchasing, Marketing).
  • Establish and supervise annual goals and objectives. Provide ongoing feedback regarding performance against objectives.
  • Develop Plant and Departmental communication programs for scheduled business updates, concerns and/or praise for major accomplishments.
  • Assure the selection, development, and retention of high caliber talent throughout the organization.
  • Provide effective management of Employee Relations. Mentor staff and supervisors in the art of training and motivating employees.
  • Implement successionplanning activities for all areas of responsibility.
  • Provide the vital direction, coaching, training and job experience to direct reports and others in the organization to assure short and longterm organization competence.
  • Responsible for the development and administration of division and plant budgets.
  • Assure compliance of facilities to all appropriate Quality, Safety. Environmental and Financial Regulations.
  • Responsible for inventory objectives and accomplishment of service level goals across all Divisional product lines.
  • Responsible for management of Finished Goods Product planning activities against divisional
objectives.

  • Assure effective divisional and facility procurement practices that creates competitive advantages in the area of lowcost manufacturing, supplierbased cost improvement and opportunities to have immediate access to most current technologies.
  • Through the principles of "Lean Thinking" fosters an environment of continuous improvement in the areas of cost, quality, and service and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ensure work safety, OSHA, EPA and GMP compliance.
  • Responsible for Global Distribution and the timely distribution of product based on customer orders.
  • Other functions and special assignments that may be assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Engineering Field preferred
  • Masters' degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years direct experience in medical device manufacturing with handson experience in multiple fields.
  • Previous experience working within an FDA regulated environment with a general understanding of GMP, ISO, OSHA & EPA requirements.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels. Excellent verbal and written communications. (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus)
  • Strong solid understanding in Procurement, Materials Management and Plant Financials. Ability to effectively lead technical processes.
  • Ability to build strong teams and provide coaching and mentoring for staff and key personnel.
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skills.
  • Proven track record of implementing change, driving cost improvements and growing efficiencies.
  • Prior experience in a Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading crossfunctional teams.
