POSITION SUMMARY**Note: This position is located in our Mesa Office (Baseline and Extension). In-office four days, telecommute one day per week.


The Payroll and Benefit Specialist supports the daily operations of The Mahoney Group's human resource function serving as an advocate for the administration of human resources policies, procedures, and programs.

This position is responsible for bi-weekly payroll and handling benefits administration.


OBJECTIVES

  • Assist in the development, facilitation, and implementation of Human Resource related initiatives, providing excellent customer service to employees and managers.
  • Administer biweekly, offcycle, and bonus payroll to include reviewing time cards, garnishments, adjustments, and maintaining employee records.
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits
  • Reconcile all benefit invoices to ensure billing accuracy and employee's benefit elections and deductions are correct; process insurance carrier invoices and prepare monthly requests for payment
  • Administer leave of absence programs and processes including transitional work and accommodations
  • Prepare all administrative tasks for onboarding new employees for a smooth newhire onboarding process
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations are maintained
  • Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

COMPETENCIES

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations for multiple states
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to organize multiple projects and team members
  • Effective time management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to be detail oriented
  • Strong computer operating skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, applicant tracking systems, and HRIS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferred
  • 5 years of payroll & benefits experience
  • Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce a plus

PHYISCAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds on occasion
  • Regularly talk to communicate and hear to understand

  • Ability to see with close vision and ability to adjust focus

Job duties are performed in an indoor office setting with computers, telephones, and copy/print machines. Noise levels are mínimal to moderate.
