Summary of Responsibilities:

We're looking for an experienced CRNA for our brand new state of the art facility, Endo-Surgical Center of Kissimmee. This person will perform and document the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient prior to endoscopy procedures. Review laboratory and diagnostic studies. Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and related services. Administer pre-anesthesia medications or treatments. Develop and implement an anesthesia care plan.

Prepare and use equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitors, supplies and drugs for the administration of sedation, anesthesia and pain management services.

Perform safety checks as needed. Administer analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids as need to provide anesthesia services. Do quality assessment and quality assurance. Participate in ongoing educational programs.


Qualifications:


  • Current State RN license and applicable state statutory and regulatory requirements concerning CRNA.
  • Graduate for a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthetist Educational Programs or its predecessor.
  • Is currently certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by this institution or state.
  • Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities specified below.
  • Previous experience in an admitting, procedure or recovery role in an ambulatory setting, preferably in a GI setting.
  • Preemployment physical with additional testing to meet state and OSHA guidelines.
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification

Job Relationships:


  • Reports directly to the Administrator (or Charge Nurse when applicable).
  • Works cooperatively with Endoscopy Center coworkers and the staff of Physicians utilizing the Endoscopy Center.
  • Presents a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner in all interactions with patients and other offices.

Physical Activities and Requirements:


  • Possesses good physical health, capable of working in a demanding environment.
  • Able to perform the basic functions of the job including extended hours, standing, bending, and stretching with frequent trips to all areas of the Center.
  • Able to lift, and carry supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Possesses manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and visual acuity are important to the performance of the job tasks.
  • Speaks clearly and distinctly to perform extensive communication with other staff members, patients, and their families/escorts, physicians, vendors and other third parties.
  • Appears professional at all times. Wears mínimal jewelry which will not interfere with clinical responsibilities.
  • Wears correct uniform/scrub attire for clinical duties.

Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies self to patient and family and assures the correct identity of patient and procedure to be performed.
  • Checks Patient's vital signs and does assessment
  • Able to assist RN with venipuncture as needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedure and Physician's preferences when instructing patients and preparing for procedure.
  • Able to communicate appropriately with physicians, RNs and other staff members.
  • Able to utilize all equipment to monitor patient.
  • Offers emotional support to patient during the procedure.
  • Has excellent understand and administration of medications.
  • Utilizes safety measures, e.g. masks, gloves, goggles, gowns.
  • Keeps Physician aware of patient's condition during procedures.
  • Accurately documents vital signs and patient's progress throughout.
  • Reports condition and important information to recovery nurse.
  • Knows all emergency protocols.
  • Preforms all aspects of airway management.
  • Initiates and administers respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation throughout the entire stay at Endo-Surgical Center.
  • Able to document in both computer and written forms of documentation
  • Has knowledge of the following procedures/equipment:
a. EGD

b. Colonoscopy

c. Flexible Sigmoidoscopy.

d. Biopsy

e. Brushings

f. Dilatation

g. Removal of Foreign Objects

h. Polypectomy

i. Cautery

j. Bipolar/Irrigator

k. Sclerotherapy

l. Light source, video processor

m. Knowledge and demonstrated ability with the following

n. Narcotic Count

o. Stocking of Procedure Rooms, Utility Room, Supply Room and Recovery Room

p. Emergency Cart

q. Defibrillator

r. Vital signs monitor

  • In addition, performs assigned duties as needed for the Endoscopy Center operation.
a. Attends all staff meetings and in-service classes on regularly scheduled days.

b. Complies with the various incident reporting systems of the Center, e.g. Adverse Incident.

c. Understands and complies with all regulations regarding Infection Control.
