The College of Engineering's Alabama Transportation Assistance Program (ATAP) is currently seeking applications for the role of Associate Director, Training and Technical Assistance.

As the Associate Director of Training and Technical Assistance, you will report to the Alabama Transportation Assistance Program (ATAP) Director. In this position, you will be the key technical leader for the Alabama Local Technical Assistance Program (AL LTAP), taking charge of various aspects including identifying new opportunities, securing funding, directing programs, guiding project delivery, and setting future directions.

Steer the strategic direction of Alabama LTAP by overseeing the development and delivery of activities. Leverage your technical expertise to propose, enhance, and teach new courses and educational resources.
Establish and nurture relationships with local government bodies, state agencies, and other stakeholders to prioritize transportation-related initiatives. Collaborate on activities involving planning, design, construction, and maintenance of various infrastructure projects.
Engage in statewide events to enhance program services and foster partnerships. Provide leadership for the LTAP Steering Committee and represent LTAP on relevant committees.
Take charge of LTAP federal and state contracts by developing work plans, managing resources, and ensuring compliance. Monitor financial performance and oversee grant management alongside the unit director.
Lead strategic initiatives to support ATAP's work and facilitate training opportunities. Coordinate professional development activities for engineers and technical professionals, fostering collaborations with professional societies and university resources for continuing education.
Review the work of contracted consultants and engage stakeholders to identify training needs and opportunities. Seek funding sources to support ATAP's initiatives.
Develop and deliver workshops on transportation and engineering topics for various stakeholders. Provide technical assistance on highway safety concerns, manage engineering projects, and support policy discussions.
Supervise staff including conducting reviews, offering mentorship, and addressing concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Relations, Communications, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience: Bring at least 6 years of experience in leading and overseeing transportation projects or programs.
