Overview


Bank accountant duties include day to day accounting that consists of monitoring, compiling, analyzing and interpreting financial accounting information for financial, regulatory compliance, and management reporting requirements.


Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for accumulating, preparing and analyzing financial information for designated affiliate banks including, but not limited to. Monthly projection of earnings and preclose yield and cost analysis, monthly financial accounting close, monthly normalized earnings report, monthly variance report, monthly board of directors report, including quarterly dashboards, peer comparison, dividend restrictions, monthly loan balance reports, monthly thirteen month rolling income statement report and monthly yield and cost report. Other ad hoc or scheduled internal management reports of periodic frequency weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.
  • Prepares, analyzes and reviews, for accuracy, regulatory reports on a periodic basis.
  • Completes and reviews monthly balance sheet account reconcilements for designated affiliate banks. Investigates discrepancies, ensures proper documentation of all reconciling items, and processes corrections as necessary. Makes recommendations to management for the treatment of reconciling items.
  • Completes a weekly review, once per week or more, of all accounts payable invoices for designated affiliate banks to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and to ensure accurate reporting of expenses. Processes corrections as necessary.
  • Coordinates, compiles, and accumulates information for the designated affiliate banks annual budget process by organizing and communicating information to bank management in addition to analyzing financial information, correcting errors and preparing reports for bank management. This includes compilations for the banks, taking into consideration the impacted division reporting. In addition, compiling budget procedures and taking budget meeting minutes related to all banks. This work is concentrated in a project timeline.
  • Interacts regularly with bank management of designated affiliate banks with requests for information, special projects, bank examination requests, and various ad hoc analyses. Contributes effective and practical suggestions, recommends, and implements as directed by management, improvements to current processes, procedures and documentation needed for compliance purposes. Prepares and maintains procedures related to own duties. Trains other staff as requested. Completes other special projects as assigned. Completes the weekly review of income and expense general ledger transactions over certain defined limits to meet control and compliance requirements. Distributes and compiles balance sheet account reconcilement information for designated affiliate banks from various departments that will be used in the quarterly balance sheet review required prior to quarterly corporate earnings release. Actively involved in ongoing project work. Participates in systems upgrades, special research related to systems and testing of modifications and annual upgrades related to specific programs. This is comprised of two upgrades a year and ongoing work throughout the year for system interdependencies. Represents the department at various meetings example core conversions and bank conversions. Responsible for providing reconcilement assistance for other departments with problems and responsible for formal and informal training for general ledger usage. Responsible for the compilation of the general ledger account description guide for changes that is used internally within the department and provided for all other corporate departments usage. Responsible for developing templates for all banks to control consistency in reporting. Responsible for the compilation of internal audit work papers and requests, assisting in the audit walk throughs and reviewing and educating the internal audit staff on the processes in place and the associated controls.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial information across affiliates and divisions, if applicable, to investigate inconsistencies in consolidated financial and or regulatory reporting. Effectively communicates recommendations to management. Implements changes as directed by management.
