The Health & Wellness Director position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program.

The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.


Summary of Duties:

The Health & Wellness Director is responsible for the daily management and oversight of the center's health and wellness program in compliance with Job Corps program requirements, corporate guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations.

The Health and Wellness Director provides and oversees the delivery of health services, support, and education that will enhance the student employability and reinforce the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle and ensures that quality health services are delivered in a professional, student-focused manner.


Key Areas of Responsibilities:


  • Promotes the Wellness Program initiatives and functions.
  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no confidentiality and manipulation of student information/data.
  • Ensures proper documentation and accountability of student's medical records.
  • Provides prevention and intervention services and shortterm treatment that will enhance student participation in the program and employability.
  • Ensures staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities.
  • Provides documented training to staff. Crosstrains department employees.
  • Coordinates staff meetings.
  • Ensures that all staff participate in CMT.
  • Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures department is compliant with all safety standards and expectations to include proper workmen's compensation reporting.
  • Ensures department is in compliance with all DOL, Corporate and Center requirements.
  • Promotes healthy choices that will have a positive impact on student's physical and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provides students with information and skills that will allow them to make
- appropriate choices regarding health care needs and to demonstrate acceptable workplace behavior that will enhance their opportunity for employment.

  • Provides for cursory and complete medical examinations including all PRH requirements.
  • Provides for immunization program in accordance with CDC guidelines and the National Office of job Corps.
  • Provides daily walkin services for routine care and establishes an appointment system for follow up care.
  • Provides patient assessment, triage, and treatment.
  • Provides emergency care including first aid, CPR, and coordination of emergency services on and off Center.
  • Assures 24 hour emergency care with written arrangements for local community facilities to provide medical, dental, mental health and inpatient care.
  • Utilizes community resources for staff and student training on various issues related to health and wellness.
  • Coordinates a community referral system.
  • Coordinates the provision of TEAP program and services, including assessment, intervention, counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education exercises.
  • Coordinates health aspects of sports activities with the Recreation Department to assure compliance with PRH requirements.
  • Assures program compliance Tobacco Use Prevention Program.
  • Assures provision of a reproductive health program including, pregnancy prevention, family planning, sexuality, and sexual assault programs.
  • Assures availability of weight control counseling, monitoring and support through Weight Improvement Program.
  • Provides management for seropositive students assuring compliance with all PRH requirements.
  • Assures program compliance with Americans for Disabilities Act (ADA reasonable recommendations.
  • Assures health service staffing is in compliance with required staffing levels and qualifications.
  • Provides for medication management including ordering, storage, administration, and record keeping for immunizations, prescription, stock medication, and controlled substances.

  • Implements, executes and monitors orientation for health services.
  • Acts as resource and liaison for HEALS and Health Occupations Program.
  • Serves as a professional resource for the Center Director and Management Team on healthrelated issues.
  • Develops, facilitates and monitors quality assurance programs such as staff meetings, record audits, performance, data, and external reviews.
  • Coordinates with other Supervisors, Directors and Directors (SMD's) to insure an effective interface with all center departments.
