JOB SUMMARY


The Assistant Superintendent, along with the Project Superintendent, assumes responsibility for coordinating the project site management and construct-ability of the specific construction project.

The Assistant Superintendent fulfills his responsibility through daily attendance and oversight of operations at the job site.

The Assistant Superintendent must conduct himself as the party responsible for the coordination of all construction efforts and as the representative of Allied Construction Services (ACS).


The Assistant Superintendent reports to the Project Superintendent with regards to project specific information, project construction means and methods, project productivity, project schedule, all administrative matters with regard to ACS's typical construction means and methods, schedule format, safety compliance, and any and general issues regarding ACS's performance of their own work.

The specific lines of responsibility between the Assistant Superintendent and the Project Superintendent will be drawn on a project by project basis at the outset of construction by the Project Superintendent.

The Assistant Superintendent will consider himself to be equally the defender of the company's interest, and the focal point for impressions formed by owners, architects, subcontractors, and potential clients in the community with respect to his projects.


The Assistant Superintendent will not
direct Subcontractors or Suppliers to perform additional work outside of their contracted scope that will incur additional cost without an executed change order.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Review construction documents for constructability and information conflict issues.
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities
  • Communicate continuously with the Project Superintendent regarding procurement requirements, subcontractor, document, and budget issues, site conditions, schedule updates, billings and changes.
  • Assist Project Superintendent with directing field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of construction schedule, weekly updated look ahead schedules for subcontractors, identify and solve potential scheduling problems.
  • Assist Project Superintendent with efficiently coordinating all subcontractors, order materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout the process.
  • Understand the project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communicates in a professional manner at all times with customers, subcontractors, suppliers and other employees.
  • Maintain OSHA 30hr certification. ACS will provide training/test.
Prepare schedules and supervises completion of a final punch list.

  • Monitor, enforce, and promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately.
  • Will assist Project Superintendent to ensure that all reports are correctly filled out and saved on Procore daily.
  • Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
  • Maintain an organized job site, including the construction office and storage areas.
  • Coordinates the daily monitoring of storage, distribution, and use of materials purchased directly by ACS.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING
CONDITIONS
Works in an outdoor environment (i.e. heat, cold, damp, rain, etc.) May have moderate exposure to injuries (i.e. chemicals, heavy machinery, large loads lifting, tools, tripping, falling, etc.) Will be exposed to some level of noise when trade contractors are using heavy equipment, power tools, etc. Hazards can be avoided with proper lifting techniques, MSDS, general safety training and wearing safety equipment.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Will be exposed to potentially long hours of constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, climbing ladders/stairs, and walking rooftops.

Must have normal range of hearing, vision, color discrimination and depth perception for proper monitoring of project operations, viewing of project construction documents, and computer monitors and handheld devices.

Must be able to complete responsibilities wearing appropriate safety equipment as prescribed by ACS Safety Program and OSHA.
