- As a member of the treatment team, the LCDC applies a strength-based and trauma-informed approach, working collaboratively with individuals in service along with internal and external treatment team members to help support clients on a path to treatment and recovery.
- Together with clients, help to identify needs and develop individualized, strength-based recovery plans that reflect clients goals and objectives. Review and updates the plan as needed.
- As needed, conduct screening and assessments, utilizing Texas Recovery and Resiliency criteria, to determine the appropriate level of care. Based on the assessment and individual preferences, the LCDC refers individuals in service to the most appropriate available treatments.
- Work with the consulting psychiatrist to ensure that clients behavioral health needs are being addressed and help to facilitate and integrate the psychiatrists recommendations.
- Models and supports clients in health and wellness activities and with using healthy coping skills.
- Facilitates psycho-education groups and life skills development groups as needed.
- Maintains continuous services to an assigned caseload by providing Engagement, Outreach, Case Management, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation services.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled team meetings.
- Collaboratively develops safety/crisis plans
- Maintains confidentiality of all reports concerning staffing and consumers.
- Contribute to team knowledge and understanding of each consumer. Assists the medical and nursing staff in monitoring by reporting potential problems.
- Assist clients in linking with resources and a system of natural supports.
- Help monitor and assess consumers on an on-going basis; including provision of additional services and secondary substance use interventions as needed.
- Assists individuals in adjusting to new environments.
- Completes paperwork requirements and maintains quality, up-to-date clinical records. Documents any clinical or support services within 24 hours of providing the service.
- Works with family members/support system to gain support in everyones success.
- Crisis intervention as needed, including when on call.
- Is knowledgeable about and remains in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, including, for example, all Metrocare policies and procedures and Quality Assurance Plan, all applicable regulatory standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor licensure with education of a Bachelors and 1-3 years of related experience or Masters degree in a human services related degree and experience of 0-2 years related experience .

Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health services in North Texas, serving over 55,000 adults and children annually. For over 50 years, Metrocare has provided a broad array of services to people with mental health challenges and developmental disabilities. In addition to behavioral health care, Metrocare provides primary care centers for adults and children, services for veterans and their families, accessible pharmacies, housing, and supportive social services. Alongside clinical care, researchers and teachers from Metrocare's Altshuler Center for Education & Research are advancing mental health beyond Dallas County while providing critical workforce to the state.
The LCDC provides interventions to assist consumers with both mental health and substance abuse issues. They serve as a member of the clinical treatment team. They are responsible for working with adults and families in treatment in a manner that is trauma-informed and responsive to needs, culture, gender, and military status. The LCDC is responsible for collaborating in the development of a person-centered recovery plan/family centered recovery plan aimed at helping every individual achieve their goals and objectives. The LCDC position is responsible for applying a holistic approach in assessing needs, developing safety plans, and providing any other clinical services of benefit, including case management, psychosocial rehabilitation, and skills training. This position maintains responsibility for a 100% productivity expectation. The population of focus tend to be of high need requiring multiple contacts weekly. Given the intensity of the services and needs of those served, this position is expected to serve individuals face to face in the community 80% or greater. Additionally, the LCDC serves in a specialist/consultation role for individuals that may be struggling with active co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Their role includes providing substance use assessment, group, and individual sessions as needed. This accounts for about 15% of their time. The LCDC may provide some sessions using video and audio technology, when warranted, but this should account for less than 5% of services.
