Description
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Devote a minimum of forty (40) hours per week performing District duties.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair to fire apparatus and equipment.
- Ability to navigate and utilize vehicle diagnostic software technology.
- Perform installation of emergency equipment and upfit department vehicles.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Record detailed documentation of completed maintenance, repairs, and testing.
- Report/replace depleted inventory levels related to vehicle maintenance.
- Provide input for the Fleet Maintenance budget.
- Ensure the District's fleet maintenance criteria are compliant with NFPA and DOT standards.
- Ensure that testing for the fleet is completed in accordance with applicable standards.
- Ability to coordinate with onduty crew for scheduling of repairs.
- Devote his/her full attention and energy when conducting the business of the District.
- Performs other workrelated duties as assigned.
- Use his/her best efforts to promote the interests and goodwill of the District.
- Must have working knowledge of modern engines both diesel and gasoline.
- Willingness to obtain Emergency Vehicle Technician certifications.
- Knowledge of automotive electrical systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Basic heavy truck preventative maintenance procedures.
- Basic plumbing repair or ability to learn.
- Willingness to learn fire apparatus pump systems and testing.
- Knowledge of small engine repair.
- Reporting skills, writing skills, Microsoft Office skills, organization, analyzing Information, professionalism, problem solving, supply management, inventory control, verbal/electronic communication, and ability to adapt to a dynamic workload.
- Ability to use specialized tools and equipment.
- Associate degree or College education preferred.
