SUMMARY:

The Early Childhood Development Education Services Manager reports to the Deputy Director of CDFSD.

Provides oversight for the administrative work in staffing and training of teaching personnel and curriculum process, transition and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program through monitoring.

Implements the program's management systems and procedures; i.e., involving families, planning, communication, record keeping and reporting, ongoing monitoring and self-assessment.

Contributes to the analysis, design, development, and evaluation of Division/Department training materials. Coordinates career development programming for staff as needed. Develops, delivers, and evaluates training programs, including workshops, seminars, events and online courses for support, professional, and managerial staff. Coordinates training activities, schedules, and course logistics so that organization performance is continuously improved.


This work is performed under the supervision of the Deputy Director and reviewed through monitoring, conferences, reports, and evaluation of program area effectiveness.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Include the following:

  • Work involves planning and implementing an early childhood developmental approach to education and early childhood development services.
  • Works closely with the Child Development Services Manager to provide an environment that supports the continuum of children's growth and development, which includes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of each child.
  • Monitors goals, policies and activities designed to implement early childhood services objectives and Performance Standards.
  • Coordinates with the Early Childhood Education Coordinator Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten activities to ensure compliance with Early Learning Coalition policies and procedures.
- versees the program's NAEYC accreditation process to obtain and maintain accreditation.

  • Assists in the budget preparation; prepares annual selfassessment of equipment and material needs; and recommends allocation of funds for supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in the development of the educational program based on the needs assessment and child outcomes.
  • Coordinates the educational curriculum in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child Outcomes.
  • Assists in the design and development of training programs.
  • Monitors classroom activities and makes recommendations based on Head Start Performance Standards and developmentallyappropriate practices.
  • Coordinates with the Child Development Services Manager to ensure all children receive quality services
  • Analyzes development assessment, child outcome data, and VPK scores in order to continually improve education and early childhood development services.
  • Participates in the revision and monitoring of the Education and Early Childhood Development Service Area Plans and procedures through a team effort.
  • Completes all written reports necessary i.e., monthly narrative, reports related to staff professional development.
  • Monitors information systems i.e., Teaching Strategies Gold, anecdotal recordings to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Attends all preservice, inservice trainings, management meetings, agency events and appropriate professional and educational conferences and meetings to develop and enhance knowledge and skills as requested.
  • Reports suspected child abuse/neglect situations.
  • Assists in garnering inkind contributions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
