Graduate Education Assistant


JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


Under the supervision of a member of the faculty, the Graduate Education Assistant (GEA) will provide academic support that furthers the mission of Florida Polytechnic University.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Faculty Support.
  • Grading.
  • Lab Preparation.
  • Leading Recitations.
  • Tutorial support for students.
  • General Classroom Support.
  • Assessment.
  • Administrative Support.
  • Clerical Tasks.
  • Assist with other work, as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical skills in the use of personal computers, software, and various other electronic devices.
  • Strong technical skills in the use of software for data processing.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to explain concepts to others effectively.
  • Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success.
  • Possess good organizational skills and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in assigned duties and move comfortably between different assignments and new projects as they emerge.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be enrolled as a graduatelevel student at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and must be enrolled in 9 credits or more.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • This position requires a criminal background check.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Varies and will be determined based on course schedule and research needs.
  • A Graduate Education Assistant is limited to a maximum of 20 work hours per week while classes are in session. During semester breaks and summer terms, a student worker is limited to a maximum of 40 work hours per week on an asneeded basis._
