COMPANY PROFILE - Maritime Delivery Services (MDS) is an intermodal trucking company with 5 offices in the US. MDS has been in business since 2007 providing safe, reliable service with dedicated staff and business-oriented independent contractors.

The Safety Manager oversees all functions of the Safety Department company wide.

At MDS the Safety department manages the recruiting and qualification process, ongoing safety/DQ file maintenance, driver and staff training (safety, hazmat), accident reporting and claims management, as well as other one off safety issues.

Responsibilities:


  • Establish, update, enforce MDS safety policy.
  • Assist driver recruiting with qualification process and other duties as needed.
  • Ensure all required filings are timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Monitor HOS and ELD compliance.
  • Sell driver safety initiatives company wide to include driver scorecards.
  • Maintain relationships with outside vendors so that MDS remains up to date with safety offerings.
  • Coach terminal staff and drivers on safe driving courses online and in person safety meetings.

Preferred Skills:


  • Working knowledge of Samsara or similar ELD system
  • Working knowledge of Profit Tools / TMS system
  • Working knowledge of Tenstreet
  • Working knowledge of Fleetworthy / other safety software systems
  • Proficient with MS office
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications:


  • Progressive growth in trucking safety management position(s)
  • Up to date knowledge of independent contractor management
  • Up to date knowledge of US DOT regulations
  • Up to date knowledge of Hazmat regulations
