POSITION TITLE:
The Quality Assurance Specialist


POSITION CONCEPT:

The Quality Assurance Specialist will assist the Director of Quality Assurance in facilitating CWI's Quality Management Program to continuously asses the quality and appropriateness of the delivery of services to ensure they are delivered in accordance with internal policies and procedures and NYS and Federal Regulations.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Quality Assurance Specialist will:

  • Act cooperatively with the President/CEO and other staff in a joint endeavor in satisfactorily achieving the goals of CWI.
  • Act as a resource to CWI staff regarding regulation and agency procedure.
Guide all agency personnel in all activities pertaining to incident management including but not limited to:
a)Investigation process, reporting process and disposal of incidents/accidents and allegations of abuse.

b)Facilitate and/or conduct investigations of all Reportable Incidents complete the corresponding written Investigation Summary and ensure Corrective Action Plans are completed and submitted to OPWDD.

c)Collaborate with OPWDD's Incident Management Unit and NYS Justice Center for all Incident Management related matters including reporting, data entry and training.

d)Assist in the coordination of/and participate in the Incident Review Committee Meetings

e)Conduct training related to Incident Reporting and other QA and Safety procedures at New Employee Training and as needed.

f)Analyze Incident data to determine trends, conduct cause analysis, and determine corrective action taken/needed.

This should include the communication of this data during CWI's Quality Assurance/Corporate Compliance Committee Meetings, Annual Reporting to CWI's Board of Directors and whenever needed.


  • Assist with and/or conduct program specific internal quality reviews and monitor effectiveness of changes resulting from the review.
  • Collaborate with agency Stakeholders including OPWDD's Department of Quality Improvement and Office of Medicaid Inspector General during their reviews of CWI's programs
  • Assist in the implementation of QA activities as outlined in the QA Plan including but not limited to: Case Record Review, Monitoring Service Satisfaction, Safety Program including the coordination Safety Committee and Safe Person Handling Committee and updating agency policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Work with CWI Management to ensure appropriate procedural changes based upon QA findings and recommendations are completed.
  • Perform other administrative duties and responsibilities (may include taking Administrative On-call rotation) as assigned by the Director of QA
  • Collaborate with any other CWI Stakeholders when necessary including law enforcement, local health departments, fire/EMS workers.
  • Act in any other capacity as requested by the President/CEO.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelors or Associates Degree in psychology, human services, business or related field with a minimum of 1 3 years' experience is preferred.
-Or 5 years of experience in a human service field or business. Experience with training, conducting audits, writing policies and procedures and word-processing and databases is preferred. -Previous experience of working with state oversight agencies is a plus. Quality Assurance experience in a human service field and/or investigation experience highly desirable. Experience with word-processing and databases preferred. -Previous experience with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities is a plus.
