    Description

    Job Title: Big Data Developer

    Locations: Newark, Atlanta, Plano, Pennington, Charlotte

    Type of hire: Full-Time

    Job Description:

    • Responsibilities
    • Develop software to interact with HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) and MapReduce.
    • Assess requirements and assess existing solutions.
    • Build, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Hadoop infrastructure.
    • Develop tools, libraries, and processes for other engineers to access data and create MapReduce programs.
    • Create documentation and playbooks for operating Hadoop infrastructure.
    • Evaluate and utilize hosted solutions on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
    • Develop scalable and sustainable ETLs (Extract, Transform, Load processes).
    • Implement and understand Hadoop's security mechanisms.
    • Develop software to ingest data into Hadoop.

    Skills

    • Proficiency in Java and ideally another JVM-based programming language.
    • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, especially algorithmic complexity.
    • Familiarity with trade-offs in distributed systems.
    • Proficient in software engineering principles for creating maintainable software.
    • Experience with a Hadoop distribution.
    • Familiarity with computation frameworks such as Spark and Unix shell scripting.
    • Knowledge of HBase, Kafka, ZooKeeper, or other Apache software as required.
