Position Summary:


The Press Brake/Machine Operator is in charge of operating woodworking or metal fabrication machines, such as drill presses, lathes, and other equipment. They also ensure the machines are well-maintained and meet production requirements successfully.

The quality of the finished product is carefully checked for defects to guarantee it is prepared for the next production steps.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Role with a focus on safety.
  • Setting up and operating various machines like brakes, rolls, saws, and presses.
  • Reading and understanding blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Selecting, positioning, and securing blades, cutters, and fixtures on the machine.
  • Monitoring machine operations and making adjustments when necessary.
  • Conducting minor machine repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Keeping the work area clean and complying with safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Following additional instructions from the Shop Supervisor.
  • Performing other tasks to support business operations.

Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their use and maintenance.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in basic math.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and vendors.

Education and/or Experience:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Trained in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Practical experience in metal and wood manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
