Director of Buildings & Grounds

Overview:


The Director of Buildings & Grounds is a pivotal leadership role overseeing all maintenance, improvement, and aesthetics across the 6.5 acre, 6-building (three residential) campus.

Responsible for managing a team of eight part-time and full-time staff, ensuring the highest standards in building maintenance, grounds keeping, and campus appearance are consistently met.

Monitors the effectiveness of his department regarding the appropriateness of projects, timeliness, and cost, whether direct staff is assigned to complete the project or the project is outsourced.

Manage all contract work and project bids, including snow removal, landscaping, and pool services, etc. Assures information about the progress and status of projects is accurately and appropriately communicated to all relevant parties.

Reporting Line:
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and/or the Chief Financial Officer.


Responsibilities:


Leadership and Management:


  • Provide visionary leadership to the Buildings & Grounds Department, overseeing maintenance, custodial services, and security personnel.
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide staff to ensure efficient operations and adherence to established standards.
  • Serve as staff support to the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees, offering insights and recommendations.

Campus Maintenance and Improvement:


  • Develop and implement strategies for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of buildings and grounds to meet the highest quality standards.
  • Create and manage projects with defined timeframes and budgets, ensuring work is executed according to established plans.

Compliance and Standards:


  • Ensure compliance with the requirements of regulatory bodies pertaining to buildings and grounds.
  • Implement necessary measures to meet and exceed accreditation standards in all relevant aspects.

Collaboration and Communication:


  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, departments, and external vendors or contractors.
  • Act as a liaison between different departments to streamline maintenance and improvement processes.

Qualifications:


  • Prior experience in facilities management, preferably in a similar setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
  • Understanding of regulatory standards, and experience in implementing compliance measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting and scheduling.
  • Ability to fully utilize the ticketing system for all buildings and grounds related tasks, projects, and activities.

Schedule:

FULL TIME POSITION, with the flexibility to work additional hours if necessary.
