Summary:
The Medical Assistant performs all essential duties and clinical skills / responsibilities as outlined below.

MA assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the medical provider.


MA possesses a minimum of 1 year of direct patient experience in a professional setting and has completed an official medical assistant training program.

The MA also possess current CMA certificate from an accredited organization. MA has prior experience working in various E.H.R systems.

Position requires employee to utilize effective interpersonal communication skills among co-workers and when working with patients.


Maintains motivation, drive, and eagerness to learn all workflows in clinic, and asks questions as needed for clarification and assistance.


Also demonstrates ability to utilize effective time management by accomplishing all skills in timely manner and offers to further assistance to providers and/or fellow medical assistants as time allow.


Time management skills is also evidenced by MA ability to maintain efficient patient flows and quality of care during clinic hours.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs adequate intake during rooming process of patient: Interviews patients, measures vital signs, performs medication reconciliation, verifies allergies, verifies pharmacy, obtains screening questionnaires after completion, prepares patient for examination as appropriate for appointment type. Enters all intake data promptly into patient chart note / EHR..
  • Ensures exam rooms are prepared for appointment type for each patient. When necessary, drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment. Assists provider as requested with skills/procedures. Ensures exam rooms are properly stocked each day and equipment in working order. Communicates with PA regarding any equipment issues or supplies needed writes items on whiteboard.
  • Performs all essential MA clinical skills, including complete rooming of patients, point of care lab tests, EKGs, administration of vaccines and/or medications as directed by providers, ear lavages, nebulizer treatmentsetc.
  • Performs adequate cleaning of rooms between patients at end of shifts, and performs regular hand hygiene; Uses proper PPE as appropriate for different types of procedures
  • Assists patients to schedule follow up appointments with front desk as instructed by provider.
  • Utilizes good time management skills among clinical tasks and secretarial tasks; works collaboratively with other MAs to address faxes for medications refill requests, prior authorizations, and other needs as appropriate. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the clinic's E.H.R, including appropriate documentation of visits, telephone notes, medical refill requests, referral questions, and data entry into patient's chart in timely manner.
  • Keys data collected into patient chart promptly to maintain patient records and accurate vaccination databases (transcribes vaccines ASAP).
  • Maintains lab orders and assures timely followup of all ordered labs. Assures the provider is notified as soon as labs return.
  • Ability to demonstrate superior customer service to all patients and demonstrates effective communication among all staff members in different departments. Communicates regularly with clinic manager regarding questions.
  • Seeks guidance and instruction as needed, demonstrates willingness to learn and continue to grow, shows initiative, works independently and completes all required tasks, and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education and/or Experience To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

One-year certificate from college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Certificates:
Graduated from an accredited school for Medical Assistants. Provide and maintain current CMA certificate and CPR certification and other technical skills needed for the performance of duties.


Pay:
From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
